The world’s richest man Jeff Bezos’s wife MacKenzie Scott has married Dan Jewett, a science teacher at the prestigious Seattle school attended by her children. She herself is at present the third richest woman in the world.
Jeff Bezos issued a statement on the marriage via an Amazon spokesman: “Dan is such a great guy, and I am happy and excited for the both of them”. Jeff has recently stepped down from his role as the CEO of Amazon.
His ex-wife’s husband Jewett also posted on Giving Pledge that he was joining Scott’s commitment to passing on an enormous financial wealth to serve others. It is worth noting that ‘The Giving Pledge’ is a commitment by the world’s wealthiest individuals and families to dedicate the majority of their wealth to giving back.
“It is strange to be writing a letter indicating I plan to give away the majority of my wealth during my lifetime, as I have never sought to gather the kind of wealth required to feel like saying such a thing would have a particular meaning,” Jewett wrote.
“I have been a teacher for the majority of my life, as well as a grateful student of the generosity of those around me. This has meant doing my best to follow their example by passing on resources of all kinds – from time to energy, to material possessions – when I have had them to give.
And now, in a stroke of happy coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous and kind people I know – and joining her in a commitment to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others,” he added.

Wealth aplenty
Jeff Bezos, founder, and CEO of e-commerce giant Amazon is the wealthiest person alive and the first person in modern history to accumulate a fortune of over $100 billion.
Bezos has an estimated net worth of $156 billion, according to Forbes, largely from his holdings in Amazon.
As a part of the divorce settlement, MacKenzie Scott got 25% of the couple’s Amazon stock, according to an April securities filing. That gave her a 4% stake in the company, which amounts to around $38 billion.
The news of Jeff Bezos’s wife remarrying a simple science teacher has taken people by surprise and as usual, has led to some very interesting observations and comments.
