India’s private airline SpiceJet has dedicated a very special aircraft livery to honor the unparalleled contribution of actor Sonu Sood in helping millions of stranded Indians, both within and outside India, to reach their homes during the lockdown and coronavirus crisis in the country.

In a visual, not many people can claim to have seen, SpiceJet uncovered a special livery with an image of the actor wrapped on its Boeing 737 aircraft.

SpiceJet and Sonu Sood have been working closely together since the beginning of the pandemic to help repatriate thousands of Indian stranded abroad. As a result of this collaboration, more than 1500 Indian students stranded in Kyrgyzstan and hundreds of Indian nationals stuck in Russia, Uzbekistan, Manila, Almaty among other countries were repatriated to India.

Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet, said, “We are extremely proud of our association with Sonu Sood and the work that we have done together during this pandemic. This special livery is a tribute from SpiceJet for Sonu’s selfless efforts and to thank him for the outstanding and exemplary work that he has done to help millions during this pandemic.”

In a post on Twitter, SpiceJet said, “The phenomenally-talented @SonuSood has been a messiah to lakhs of Indians during the pandemic, helping them reunite with their loved ones, feed their families and more. While there is no apt way to thank him for his immense efforts, here is a small gesture from SpiceJet to acknowledge him and his amazing contributions. Introducing our one-of-its-kind Sonu Sood livery draped on Mustard, one of our lovely Boeing 737 aircraft.”

Furthermore, SpiceJet said, “Thank you for everything, Sonu! You are an inspiration to us and many others, and we are proud to be your partners in your deeds of extraordinary compassion.”

Sonu Sood, meanwhile was overwhelmed and said, “I am extremely grateful to SpiceJet for this amazing gesture. If there was one airline that did not stop operations for even a single day during the lockdown, it was SpiceJet, ensuring that the country’s supply chain remained intact. I am thankful to SpiceJet for their untiring and invaluable support that helped reunite thousands of stranded Indians with their families.”

When the 21-day nation-wide lockdown was imposed in India on March 24, several migrant laborers were stuck in different parts of the country and started a journey to their hometown on foot, sans food and water.

That is when Sood, the knight-in-shining-armor, who appeared like a god-sent angel to those in crisis, emerged, arranged buses for migrants, and helped them reunite with their families.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Over the past year, Sonu Sood has offered help in various fields. He provided smartphones to children in a remote Haryana village school for their online classes. In September, he facilitated a brain tumor surgery of a woman in Assam.

Sonu Sood has an impressive film career too. He has appeared in the films Jodhaa Akbar, Dabangg, Happy New Year, Kung Fu Yoga, and Simmba.

An actor, social worker, philanthropist, author, and a full-time messiah, Sood has done what the people in power failed to do – help those in crisis. Sonu Sood is perhaps the real hero that Bollywood needs
