A Hyderabad techie who returned from Dubai and was diagnosed with Coronavirus (Covid-19) was the first case in Telangana. Now at least 36 out of a total of 88 people he came in contact with are showing some symptoms of Covid-19 as per Telangana government officials.
45 of the close contacts of the 24-year-old software professional from Hyderabad were taken to the state-run Gandhi hospital on the night of Monday 2nd March. The rest who did not show any symptoms were allowed to go home for self-isolation. The 36 patients who are showing symptoms have been tested and the results are expected today.
These 36 symptomatic people include those who traveled with him during his commute on the bus from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and also his family members as per inputs by Vijay Kumar who is the state nodal officer for Covid -19 infection. This must be noted that they are only showing symptoms that don’t necessarily mean that they have Covid-19 infection and they may come out negative in test results today.
As per the report in TOI, the IT professional works at a tech park in the outskirts of Bengaluru and stays in a PG accommodation. He traveled to Dubai on an assignment on February 15 and returned to Bengaluru on February 20. He attended office for two days, February 20 and 21, before taking the bust to Hyderbad. His samples had tested positive on Monday 2nd March.
A total of 88 people were identified by the government officials to have come in contact with him and all were being monitored for symptoms.
